Is Ash the villain?

At a press conference in Mumbai last week, the 20-something who represents the Indian market for the same beauty brand as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a statement about walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year along with international heavyweights including Ash, Elizabeth Banks, Eva Longoria and Rachida Brakni.

Immediately after her announcement came a round of media reports blaming Ash for ‘making sure’ Sonam didn’t get the same Cannes honour as herself. Naturally Ash is disturbed.

The actress who has been representing the brand at Cannes since 2002; fails to understand why her name is being dragged into this controversy especially since the official press note doesn’t even mention Sonam as part of the red carpet brigade. In the meantime, Sonam’s media relations manager has also said that she will get the brand to issue a clarification on this whole red-carpet Cannes controversy so all doubts are laid to rest. And, we guess Anil Kapoor will be a relieved man.

After all, he is currently torn between two beautiful women — his heroine Aishwarya and daughter Sonam.

A R Rahman to score tunes for Blue

Music maestro A.R.Rahman has given some really diverse music this year. While he started the year with Ashutosh Gowariker's period film Jodhaa Akbar, he surprised everyone with the young and peppy tunes which he composed for Aamir Khan Productions' Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na.

If you think that's all you get to hear of Rahman this year, then you are wrong. While his music for Subhash Ghai's magnum opus Yuvraaj is being awaited with bated breath, he is also composing the music for Aamir Khan's Ghajini.

And for all you die-hard Rahman fans, there is some more good news. The music maestro has also been roped in by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. to compose the music for their multi-starrer Blue. Blue has been in the news recently as major portions of the film featuring actors like Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif were shot in the exotic locations of Bahamas. With Rahman coming into the picture this adventure ride only gets bigger and better.

Charmi and her 7 angle lip lock with cockroach

Charmi, the hot girl in Telugu, is once again trying her luck in Tamil Cinema through Laadam. Directed by Prabu Solomon, the film is a fast phase thriller without any conventional love sentiments.

When the entire unit of Laadam met the media at Green Park yesterday, the director says that the movie is an unusual script. The story is a compilation of events happened in 16 Days. "The story is very simple. A girl and a boy who are good friends and how they help each other in certain tough situations in their life is the base for the script. But the screen presentation will surely entertain the viewers a lot," says the director.

Charmi, who started her career with Simbu in a Tamil film Kadhal Azhivathillai, plays the role of Angel, a very positive and comical character and hopes a lot for her re entry in to Tamil films again.

Aravindan is the new hero whose tagline in the film's promos reads, 'they called him cockroach (Karappanpoochi)'. In this film, there is also a lip lock with 'Karappanpoochi', which was shot in one take but 'from seven angles' as quoted by Charmi.

Dharan has done the music and one of the songs is written by journalist (Dinakaran) Eknath.
