Chiru in 'Bangarukodipetta'

The latest film that stars Ram Charan Teja, directed by S.S.Rajamouli, with Allu Aravind as producer is produced by his home production house. This movie could very well hold a big surprise for the fans of Mega Star Chiranjeevi.

As already reported, the super hit number 'Bangaru Kodipetta…' filmed in the locales of Visakhapatnam, from the movie 'Gharana Mogudu' featuring the Mega Star in the lead, is being remixed for this latest flick starring Ram Charan Teja.

The most interesting talk of Tinsel Ville right now is that Mega Star Chiranjeevi is joining son Ram CharanTeja for the dance sequence in this remix song. If the information from sources is true this will really be a pleasant surprise for Chiranjeevi fans, who are very keen to watch their favorite star make an appearance on screen, before entering politics.

Prem Rakshit who made a mark for himself in movies such as 'Chatrapati', 'Yama Donga', and 'Kantri', is the choreographer for this song.

With dad dancing by his side, Ram Charan Teja could very well skyrocket his career big time.

Hare Ram to hit screen on July 18

Produced by Nandamuri Janakiram under the banner of NTR Arts, with Harshavardhan wielding the megaphone, move Hare Ram with Nandamuri Kalyanram and Priyamani in the lead, is all set to hit the screen on July 18.

Kalyanram says, "The story had a fantastic movement on the screen. Priyamani, the national award winner, is playing the heroine. Mickey J Meyer, who gave soulful music for the recent hit Happy Days, gave excellent tunes to our film, while Sirivennela Sitaramastry penned the lyrics. There is a very good response to the audio released into the market recently."

"We are making efforts to release the film on July 18. We are sure that the film would enhance the prestige and image of our banner and it would be another blockbuster under our banner after Athanokkade," he added.

A R Rahman to score tunes for Blue

Music maestro A.R.Rahman has given some really diverse music this year. While he started the year with Ashutosh Gowariker's period film Jodhaa Akbar, he surprised everyone with the young and peppy tunes which he composed for Aamir Khan Productions' Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na.

If you think that's all you get to hear of Rahman this year, then you are wrong. While his music for Subhash Ghai's magnum opus Yuvraaj is being awaited with bated breath, he is also composing the music for Aamir Khan's Ghajini.

And for all you die-hard Rahman fans, there is some more good news. The music maestro has also been roped in by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. to compose the music for their multi-starrer Blue. Blue has been in the news recently as major portions of the film featuring actors like Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif were shot in the exotic locations of Bahamas. With Rahman coming into the picture this adventure ride only gets bigger and better.

Charmi and her 7 angle lip lock with cockroach

Charmi, the hot girl in Telugu, is once again trying her luck in Tamil Cinema through Laadam. Directed by Prabu Solomon, the film is a fast phase thriller without any conventional love sentiments.

When the entire unit of Laadam met the media at Green Park yesterday, the director says that the movie is an unusual script. The story is a compilation of events happened in 16 Days. "The story is very simple. A girl and a boy who are good friends and how they help each other in certain tough situations in their life is the base for the script. But the screen presentation will surely entertain the viewers a lot," says the director.

Charmi, who started her career with Simbu in a Tamil film Kadhal Azhivathillai, plays the role of Angel, a very positive and comical character and hopes a lot for her re entry in to Tamil films again.

Aravindan is the new hero whose tagline in the film's promos reads, 'they called him cockroach (Karappanpoochi)'. In this film, there is also a lip lock with 'Karappanpoochi', which was shot in one take but 'from seven angles' as quoted by Charmi.

Dharan has done the music and one of the songs is written by journalist (Dinakaran) Eknath.

Ankita's last attempt

The hot and happening Ankita, who did a couple of big movie like Simhadri and Lahiri Lahiri Lahiri Lo, slid from her high ranking and was seen doing item numbers for a while. Then she slipped out of the public eye for unknown reasons.

Now, Ankita"s back a long gap with Tsunami 7 X about family problems which start in a very small way and turn into a tsunami because of misunderstandings between family members. The movie stars Ankita, Raghu Babu, Krishna Bhagavan and Sunitha.

Shobana opens dance school Kalarpana

National Award winning actress Shobana, who is also an exponent of the Bharathanatyam, launched her school 'Kalarpana', a cultural centre for classical dance, at a function organised at Savera Hotel, Chennai, on Wednesday.

Talking on the occasion, Shobana (niece of the Travancore sisters Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini, all renowned for their skill in classical Indian dance) said, "The school is conceived, created, and developed as an all-encompassing forum of learning, experimenting, teaching and spreading Bharathanatyam. It is meant to support a conductive cultural environment and will be the first of its kind in Chennai."

Kalarpana will organize annual festivals throughout India, including performances of nationally- and globally-known artistes to help raise funds that will be ploughed back into training talented artistes who are financially weak. It will extend its support to the handicapped and the environmental movement too.

She revealed that she has already invested Rs. 2.5 crores into her dream project without any support from either the government or corporates. Students have already enrolled for the courses. Actors Suhasini, Vineeth and Revathy also spoke on the occasion.

Nayan is flying very high

Nayantara is flying high with her role in Kathanayakudu all wrapped up, where she 'directs' Rajinikanth. Her career shot into the stratosphere with her role opposite Rajini in Chandramukhi, then came the unstoppable Billa, where she boldly ventured forth in a bikini, which very few South Indian actresses wore on screen and survived to tell the tale.

Right now, she is busy shooting for Aegan opposite Ajith in Yercaud. The movie is said to be a remake of the SRK starrer Main Hoon Na. Nayan has already crossed the magical Rs. 1 crore fee mark, which for an actress in South India is quite an achievement.

And now, we hear that she's been getting offers from Bollywood as well. Bollywood is known for its fat pay cheques. A lot of South Indian actresses have been lured by Bollywood's magic and a few have made it big, the most recent being Asin, who is debuting in Hindi with Ghajini. In fact, many North Indian hopefuls come South, make a name for themselves and get superb film offers in Hindi films.

Let's see if Nayan succumbs to the temptation offered by Hindi films or works on her rising star in South Indian film industry

Mamta nominated for Filmfare Awards

Mamta Mohandas, who debuted with the Malayalam film Mayookham in 2005 and attracted attention for her sensitive portrayal in movies like Bus Conductor and Big B with Mammootty, Baba Kalyani with Mohanlal, Lanka and Adhbutam with Suresh Gopi and Madhuchandralekha with Jayaram, has been nominated for the second time in a row for the best singer's award in the upcoming 55th Annual Filmfare Awards, 2007.

Mamta, a trained and famous Carnatic and Hindustani singer, made her filmi singing debut in Rakhee (Telugu) with music director Devi Sri Prasad. She won her first Filmfare award for this song. Mamta, a Malayalee brought up in Bahrain, also made her entry in Kollywood playback singing by crooning 'Kaalai Kaalai' in Kaalai, which stars Silambarasan and Vedhika plus Nila in a guest role.

Mamta is currently shooting with Rajinikanth for Kuselan, a remake of Malayalam movie Kadha Parayumpol, and is also busy with many other films like Musafir (Malayalam), Homam (Telugu) and Chintakayala Ravi and Guru En Aalu (Tamil).

Sandya refuses Lawrences offer

We all know actress Sandya, who starred in the critically-acclaimed Tamil love story Kaadhal for which she won the Filmfare South best actress award of 2004. She has also done many hit Malayalam movies like Alice in Wonderland with Jayaram, Prajapathy with Mammootty and Cycle with Vineeth Sreenivasan, Vinu Mohan and Bhama.

This young actress was recently offered a role in Lawrence's Rajathi Raja to be directed by Sakthi Chidambaram. Surprisingly, Sandya refused the role. Why? See what she has to say:

"I feel a bit choosy even if there are two heroines in a film because my acting scope is reduced proportionately. I Just can't imagine being one of six heroines in a film. Rajathi Raja has six heroines and one hero. That is why I said no," she said. She would like to do meaningful and meaty roles in which she can exhibit her acting skills, she added.

Sandya also said that she has no problems playing glamorous roles as long as they are well within the bounds of decency. The actress is currently working for a Malayalam movie D-17 with Atul Kulkarni and Ajmal Ameer.

Nitin to play Drona

Young hero Nitin tried to attract the youth with his eight-pack abs in Victory. The film which was released recently is doing good. Now, his forthcoming film is presently on sets with Priyamani playing opposite him as heroine. The film is titled as 'Drona'. Another film of Nitin is on cards and that film was supposed to be directed by senior artiste and villain GV. It is learnt that 'Hero' is the title under consideration.

It appears, sentimental bug had bitten Nitin, too, as he chose to accept titles with two letters in Telugu, like 'Drona' and 'Hero', on the lines of hit films in his career like 'Jayam' and 'Dil'. The films with titles more than two Telugu letters in Nitin's career failed to achieve expected results.

Besides these, Nitin is also going to play hero in a film to be directed by VN Aditya in which Ileana is going to play the female lead. Venkataramana and Anand are producing the movie under the banner of Limelight Entertainments. Presently, Aditya is busy with the final touches of Rainbow. The film with Nitin as hero would go to sets soon after Rainbow hits the screen. For Ileana it would be the second film with director VN Aditya as she had already worked with him for 'Aata'.

Kathanayakudu Preview

After the blockbuster Shivaji, when the whole industry was abuzz with talks about the film's impressive theme and the treatment, Superstar Rajinikanth accepted his friend Srinivasan's invitation and attended a special screening of the Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol. Absolutely impressed with the theme, Rajini wanted to take up the Tamil remake and was willing to act in the role of the Mammootty in the original. Without further delay, he called Srinivasan and from that moment, the project began to take shape. Titled Kuselan in Tamil and Kucheludu in Telugu, later renamed Kathanayakudu, Rajini chose the experienced and wise P. Vasu as the director of the remake. K. Balachander's Kavithalaya took over the production. Needless to say, Rajinikanth's presence in the project galvanized the whole team into swift activity.

Though a remake, the plot has been modified suitably to suit the tastes of the Tamil and Telugu audiences. It is also understood changes have been made to amplify and expand the role of the Superstar; as a result, Rajni appears in over 50% of the film, though he is not the hero.

The theme of the film is simple: Balan (Pasupathy) is a barber who lives a hand-to-mouth existence in his village with his wife Sridevi (Meena) and three children. A secret love affair, elopement, subsequent marriage, fatherhood and poverty have pushed the barber to the brink and he is absolutely vanquished by the crushing weight of his failure to fulfill his responsibilities. And Balan is a man who just cannot dupe, lie, or commit fraud. So without knowing any means to make extra money, Balan struggles to cope with life and demands of the family. Each and every day poses a mighty challenge to him; there is no money to pay the children's school fees, absolutely no money for everyday expenses, food and clothing. As if all these are not sufficient to stir trouble, his business also goes through a dull period. Deprived of caring friends and relatives on whom he can rely for help and support, Balan struggles through life daily, getting on with the business of living, trying to make sense of life, trying to do his job, to keep his wife and children fed and clothed.

At this critical juncture, Balan comes to know that Superstar Ashokraj (Rajinikanth) is visiting the village in connection with the shoot of his latest film. As soon as he receives news about the shooting, an enthusiastic Balan reveals the precious piece of information that - Ashok is his childhood friend. Coming to know about the connection, Balan's wife and children yell with joy as if they have won the lottery overnight. Also, armed with the foresight and thoughtfulness of a dutiful mother, Sreedevi urges her husband to extract maximum advantage of the connection. Balan, a man of great self-esteem and individuality, is taken aback by the shrewd suggestion. Though he and Ashok had enjoyed a good friendship, he does not want to temper the purity of the first meeting after all these years by asking for a personal favour. Needless to say, Balan is also awed by Ashok's Superstar airs and is not sure whether he would even recognize the poor barber. So what happens next? Do Ashok and Balan meet? Does Ashok agree to help them out? Does he fulfil Sreedevi's expectations, showering fortune on them? Or is he the cool, reserved star who considers himself several notches above the poor barber's social status? Does he feel ashamed to acknowledge his friendship? Kuselan/Kathanayakudu has captured an emotional explosion at this point in the narrative. Wait and watch!

It is a Superstar film, one he has happily accepted! So obviously, the whole industry is curious to enjoy news and information regarding the production. Based on those snippets, it appears there are going to be interesting star-cameos (Sneha, Kamal Haasan and so on) and Vadivelu is going to appear.

Sindhu Tolani to dub in Telugu

There are hardly any Telugu speaking actors from in Telugu Cinema. Most of the heroines are imports and as such cannot dub for their roles. Actress Charmi is the lone exception. She learnt Telugu and is now dubbing for her own roles in Telugu and she is now ready to dub for other heroines as well.

Actress Sindhu Tolani is another young import to Telugu Cinema. Sindhu made her mark with films like Pothe Poni, Athanokkade, Bathukamma and Victory. Sindhu is now practicing hard to dub for her roles in her new films.

Raghava Lawrence went from dancer to choreographer with the encouragement of top stars like Superstar Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna. In fact, it was Nagarjuna, who gave Lawrence his first chance to prove himself as director with Mass, which became a massive hit.Nagarjuna didn't forget Lawrence and again agreed to be the hero in Lawrence's second directorial debut Don, which fell prey to the 'second film curse' that every new director in Telugu film industry suffers from.
