Mamta nominated for Filmfare Awards

Mamta Mohandas, who debuted with the Malayalam film Mayookham in 2005 and attracted attention for her sensitive portrayal in movies like Bus Conductor and Big B with Mammootty, Baba Kalyani with Mohanlal, Lanka and Adhbutam with Suresh Gopi and Madhuchandralekha with Jayaram, has been nominated for the second time in a row for the best singer's award in the upcoming 55th Annual Filmfare Awards, 2007.

Mamta, a trained and famous Carnatic and Hindustani singer, made her filmi singing debut in Rakhee (Telugu) with music director Devi Sri Prasad. She won her first Filmfare award for this song. Mamta, a Malayalee brought up in Bahrain, also made her entry in Kollywood playback singing by crooning 'Kaalai Kaalai' in Kaalai, which stars Silambarasan and Vedhika plus Nila in a guest role.

Mamta is currently shooting with Rajinikanth for Kuselan, a remake of Malayalam movie Kadha Parayumpol, and is also busy with many other films like Musafir (Malayalam), Homam (Telugu) and Chintakayala Ravi and Guru En Aalu (Tamil).
